Deinterlacing AVCHD to ProRes - Convert AVCHD to ProRes MOV and De-interlace

While you want to go out traveling, do you want to take high quality pictures and videos? AVCHD camcorder is now the best choice for most people who like shooting with its high video quality. If you have a 1080i AVCHD camcorder like Panasonic HDC-SD100, HDC-SD5, Sony HDR-CX550, Sony HXR-NX5P, Sony NEX-5, or Sony CX350, etc, which will records high quality videos with interlacing artifacts, you may want to deinterlace and edit your shootings in FCP before sharing with your friends or burning to DVD. FCP works almost 100% great for video editing apart from the de-interlacing issue.

And we know that Apple ProRes is designed for fabulous video editing with highest quality on Final Cut Pro to make the most of the source video. If you want to edit and output high quality the same as the original without interlaces, I suggested you to use an AVCHD Deinterlacing Filter to remove lines from AVCHD movie and then convert to FCP’s suitable format Apple ProRes.

Below is the fast guide for you to convert AVCHD videos to ProRes and deinterlace.

Step 1. Add AVCHD videos to Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac.
Connect your AVCHD Camcorder to iMac with USB 2.0 cable or use card reader to transfer the .mts or .m2ts files to Apple hard drive disk. Run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as the best Mac AVCHD to Apple ProRes Converter, and click the "Add" button to load 1080i .m2ts videos.

Step 2. Choose Apple ProRes codec for Final Cut Pro.
Click the "Format" option, and navigate to the Final Cut Pro group, you will notice that there are profiles with Apple ProRes 422, Apple ProRes 422(HQ), Apple ProRes 422(LT), Apple ProRes 422(Proxy), Apple ProRes 4444. Here we choose Apple ProRes 422(HQ) (*.mov) as output format. (The Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy) codec is intended for offline editing and contains 30 percent of the data rate of Apple ProRes 422, and I recommend you to select Apple ProRes 422(HQ), Apple ProRes 422(LT) MOV for outputting.)

Step 3. Deinterlace AVCHD to Apple ProRes 422.
Click the "Editor" button, go to the Effect tab, and make sure the checkbox for Deinterlacing is ticked. The Mac AVCHD to ProRes 422 converter will deinterlace 1080i AVCHD MTS/M2TS to remove interlacing artifacts.

Step 4. Convert 1080i AVCHD videos to Apple ProRes 422 HQ(LT) for FCP.
Click the convert button to start the deinterlacing and conversion from 1080i AVCHD videos to standard input for Final Cut Pro ProRes 422 HQ(LT).

After the conversion, you can enjoy best quality movie without interlaces and immediate editing in Final Cut Pro with fast workflow.
