Panasonic has released HDC-TM700/HS700/SD700 to record 1080p videos with 60 fps for American model and 50fps for other countries. The 5.1-channel surround sound recording is also attractive. The recorded .mts files play perfectly on camcorder, but you may find that it is not Mac compatible.
I googled and find Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as the recommended Panasonic TM700 video converter. I downloaded it and converted my HDC-TM700 video to MOV for playback on Mac. The output video works perfectly on Mac QuickTime. However, it seems to only reduce 50p to 25p or 30p. I would like to keep 1080/50p video and 5.1 audio from Panasonic 700 in high quality. After playing around the convert, I finally figure out the secret and hope you will also enjoy the conversion with Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac.
Step 1. Load Panasonic video to Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac.
Connect Panasonic HDC-TM700/HS700/SD700 to Mac with USB cable, and run Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as the best Panasonic 60p 50p converter on Mac Snow Leopard. Click the "Add" button and browse the camcorder from the DEVICES menu, and go to AVCHD > BDMV > STREAM to load 1080/60p or 1080/50p videos with 5.1 audio.
Step 2. Choose HD MOV format.
Click the "Format" option and navigate to HD Video > H.264 HD Video(*.mov) as output format. The default profile will convert Panasonic 700 video to Mac QuickTime compatible 1080p .mov video with 5.1 surround sound.
Step 3. Maintain 1080/50p or 1080/60p video with 5.1 audio.
Click the "Settings", and you can specify the video frame rate, audio channels as you like. For users with Panasonic 700 series that offer 1080/60p recording, you just need to change the frame rate to 60. For 1080/50p camcorder videos, you can enter 50 as the video frame rate.
To keep 5.1 audio, you just make sure that 6 channel is chosen as in the audio channel option.
Step 4. Convert Panasonic 700 video to MOV for Mac.
Click the convert button under the preview window, and the conversion from Panasonic TM700/HS700/SD700 1080/60p video to 1080/60p MOV with 5.1 audio will start immediately.
When the conversion is done, you will get high quality video for playback on Mac computer, editing in Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express and so on.
